This is my first time participating in a fun run event of the MTN organization, The Hope Ward - a charity non-profit organization within International Hospital Kampala that provides free of charge health services for those who cannot afford to pay for medical resources such as medicine tablets, machines and doctor checks.
The fun run consists of two races to be involved in:
To walk 5 km or to run 10 km. I chose to walk 5 km.At the first 2 km I was walking, but I wanted to finish the walk in a quicker time so I ran the rest of the 3 km.
In total I had finished the race in 48 minutes.
I think I could have done the 10 km run if I had practiced before and had a steady fitness level.
Usually I don’t like to run and I always stop in the middle but when I started to run I didn't walk at all, and afterwards I felt good with my body.
The fun run for me was a small accomplishment of succeeding to run and walk, but I had contributed to a greater cause by participating and being part of resolving a global issue, which can help people who really need a medical or any other support.
All in all, I engaged with issues of global importance by going to the fun run and participating in it.
Also I had increased my awareness of my own strengths and areas for growth by starting to run regularly, and helping the society more often, by being involved in activities which donate money to a good cause.
